Reflections on a Recent Collaboration Event

NCPTS users gather for insights, community, and growth.

Our recent client event brought together assessors and tax office staff from across North Carolina for an enriching experience. Attendees delved into assessment and collection practices, discussing best practices and exploring real-world applications of our solutions. Highlights included interactive discussions on topics like IRP and EOY processing, in-depth CAMA and collection workshops, and shared strategies for daily office processes.

"The discussions were invaluable. Learning from other counties was a huge advantage."

"Group discussions and sharing were so insightful. Can’t wait to do this again!”

Collaboration and Customization in Louisiana

Nearly three years ago, St. Tammany Parish Assessor’s Office came to Farragut with a vision. The questions at hand were could Farragut

..produce a software application for the property tax assessment?

..customize it for the unique laws and exemptions in Louisiana?

..adapt their proven workflows for Louisiana users?

The answer for all is a resounding yes!

As of October 26, 2022, St. Tammany Parish Assessor’s Office submitted its first certified tax roll utilizing Farragut’s custom designed Arist software solution. The secret to St. Tammany’s success? A strong partnership with visionary leaders.

Farragut’s approach is simple. Treat every opportunity like a partnership. It would have been impossible to get through COVID-19 lockdowns, hurricanes, staff transitions, and learning Louisiana’s unique laws without working together, as a team, to produce the best property tax solution for St. Tammany.

Assessor Louis Fitzmorris is dedicated to ensuring that the citizens of St. Tammany have accurate, efficient tax records.  The goal for the team was to increase accuracy and efficiency through technology, transparency, and trust. This goal paired seamlessly with that of Farragut’s. Through the team leadership, led by Chief Deputy Assessor Troy Dugas and Technology Director and Project Manager, Michael McNeil, and the team at Farragut, the implementation was able to achieve its goal regardless of any obstacle.

Louis and Troy created a bond between their team and Farragut’s that produced the best solution possible.  This bond was solidified through a hands-on approach to developing a custom solution tailored to their unique requirements, on-site visits to other Farragut partners, and active learning during remote training sessions. Farragut has continued to be impressed with the entire team at St. Tammany Assessor’s Office, as everyone went above and beyond to learn the solution and ask questions to ensure each workflow was the strongest it could be.

“Our mission statement at the St. Tammany Parish Assessor’s Office is ‘To serve the citizens of St. Tammany Parish with fairness, efficiency and responsiveness,’” Assessor Fitzmorris said. “Farragut embraced this mission as well. The accomplishment of successfully certifying the tax roll for our citizens is an outstanding example of what can be accomplished when working as a unified team, with the same goal.  We are thankful to Farragut for sharing not only their knowledge and skill with us, but their vision, determination and positivity. This process has been a rewarding experience for everyone involved and a major win for the public we represent.’

On behalf of the Farragut team, we would like to congratulate Louis and Troy and the rest of the St Tammany team for this tremendous accomplishment and for a successful completion of the 2022 tax rolls. Farragut is grateful for the warm welcome in Louisiana, and we look forward to continuing to expand our partnerships and meeting the needs of our future partners in Louisiana.
